Is it okay to say “How is it going?” instead of “How are you?”

I’ve heard native speakers say “How’s it going?” a lot.
Is it the same as “How are you?”

    Yes, it's perfectly okay. “How’s it going?” is just a more casual way of saying “How are you?”. People use it a lot with friends, coworkers, or people they see often.

    Yeah, that's completely normal. “How’s it going?” is just a casual way to say “How are you?”.
    You'll hear it a lot in daily conversations. People often reply with something simple like “Good”, “Not bad”, or “Pretty good”.
