Should I watch movies with subtitles when learning English?

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if subtitles help or slow down learning. What do you think?

Why is it so hard to understand native speakers?

I can understand English when reading, but when native speakers talk fast I get lost. Is this normal? How can I improve my listening?
